Are German Shepherds easy to train?

German Shepherds are widely considered highly trainable because they're intelligent, focused and generally eager to work alongside their handler rather than resist instruction. That said, intelligence isn't a substitute for consistency — a German Shepherd left without structured training can become just as easily trained in bad habits as good ones. Short, positive training sessions, clear and consistent boundaries, and regular practice tend to work far better than occasional long sessions. Early socialisation alongside training also matters, since a well-socialised, well-trained German Shepherd puppy typically grows into a far more predictable and confident adult dog.
